Artist Bio

Margaret's journey as an artist is evident in her lifelong passion.

From her early days in pottery classes, where she discovered a new lens through which to view the world, to her teenage years, when she prioritized buying a film camera, her love for art has only grown. She continues to explore mixed media painting, oil painting, botanic illustration, monotype printmaking, and plein-air painting, all fueled by her curiosity about art. Margaret's art reflects her deep-rooted connection with nature and color. This connection with the natural world and her interest in color and various mediums continues to drive her art. Margaret also studied botanic illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Art and Illustration for five years. The illustration training came after she spent ten years focused on macro flower photography. Margaret's artistic journey is a collection of notable achievements and fruitful collaborations. Her abstract work circles back around amidst all the other work, pushing boundaries with spontaneity and color. She has focused on honing her printmaking skills over the past five years, incorporating block printing into everything she has learned about art over a lifetime of interest. She is embarking on a new journey to spark joy in her artistic practice and to further her growth and evolution as an artist.

Artist Statement

The Internal: Abstract Reflections
For me, abstract painting is the most authentic way to navigate my inner world. These works
serve as a resource for processing where I have been and how we heal through the expression
of emotion. While the inspiration for these pieces is entirely internal, the goal is universal: to
translate the intangible complexity of human feeling into a visual language of color and texture.
Each canvas is a record of a journey toward emotional clarity.

The External: Botanical Complexity
While my abstracts look inward, my botanical work draws from the external world. I have always
been captivated by the shapes and colors found in nature. On the surface, botanical subjects
appear joyful and simple, yet underneath that initial beauty lies a sophisticated complexity that
mirrors our own. My deep connection to nature’s design allows me to explore how even the
simplest leaf or flower carries a weight of biological and aesthetic depth.

The Human Connection
Whether drawing from internal reflections or the organic world, my work is rooted in the value of
connection. By weaving together the simplicity of nature and the intricacies of human emotion, I
aim to create art that resonates deeply with the viewer. After all, we are all human—navigating
the same balance of external grace and internal depth.
